Adrian welcomes the election ahead

Welcoming the election ahead, Adrian Owens said "I'm delighted that after 3 years of dithering, Gordon Brown has finally called the General Election. It's been 13 long years since Labour came to power, and in that time they've led the country to near bankruptcy.”

"Locally, they cancelled plans to build the Ormskirk Bypass, stripped our hospital of its Adult A&E department, raided hard-working people's pensions, hit thousands of the least well-off with the 10p tax fiasco and have left almost one in 10 young people on the dole queue. Throughout all this, Labour has taxed us to the hilt, and their only answer now is to tax us even more raising national insurance rates still higher and threatening jobs."

Adrian added “I am fighting this election because West Lancashire needs a new direction. I support and will work to safeguard Ormskirk hospital. Health services must be local and accessible. I’ll fight for a fair share of central transport funding to invest in better transport links and services in West Lancashire. I’ll work for all - in Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and our villages. I will vote to restore the earnings link for state pensions and a Conservative government will not cut the winter fuel allowance or free bus passes and will instead work with local councils to freeze the council tax for a further two years.”

"As your local candidate living in Newburgh and a leading local councillor for the past 11 years with a career in manufacturing, I have the knowledge of West Lancashire and the experience of finance and operations to put our area on the map at Westminster. I also pledge to help clean up Parliament by voting to end MPs gold-plated pensions and I will not claim for food or furniture."

"Only Labour or Conservative can realistically win in West Lancashire, so a vote for anyone else is a vote for 5 more years of Gordon Brown. We cannot go on like this. It's time for change in West Lancashire."
