support grows for adrian's campaign

West Lancashire Conservative Parliamentary candidate Adrian Owens has today welcomed the backing of local community activist, David Sudworth.

David is a former news editor at the Advertiser newspaper and now writes a local blog. He also worked briefly for a Labour MP. Since Parliament was dissolved, that MP is now Adrian's Labour opponent at the forthcoming General Election.

David is one of a number of local people who has signed Adrian's nomination papers, and will be working alongside him and his team in key areas ahead of the national and local elections on May 6.

David, 30, from Skelmersdale, said, "I am delighted to be supporting Adrian and his team, who have been extremely welcoming.

"I have known Adrian for around seven years and, throughout that time, he has demonstrated his commitment to West Lancashire. As a leading Borough councillor, he has delivered real improvements right across our area. Under his guidance, the Skelmersdale Vision town centre project is now set to become a reality, the centre of Burscough has been transformed and steps have been taken to promote and preserve Ormskirk's cultural heritage.

"In addition Adrian, like me, wants to defend our local NHS services, deliver a much-needed Ormskirk Bypass and create jobs for our area by cutting red tape for businesses. He has a positive message of change and I truly believe he is the best person to represent West Lancashire at Westminster. I look forward to working alongside him and his team towards what will hopefully be a Conservative victory on May 6."

Adrian said, "I’m delighted to welcome David to the team. He is one of many people we are finding who are joining our campaign. Thirty people signed my nomination papers from Skelmersdale, Ormskirk and the villages. I’m delighted at the breadth and depth of my support.”

Others nominating Adrian include the co-owner of Skelmersdale Social club; Ian Grant, Borough council leader; Jenni Mayer, Conservative Association Chairman; and local council candidates.

Adrian has also today published his declaration of outside interests on his website for residents to view.
