Adrian takes part in BBC Radio Lancashire debate

West Lancashire Conservative candidate Adrian Owens took part in a live head-to-head radio debate with his Lib Dem and Labour opponents.

The one hour debate was aired live from Rufford Old Hall on BBC Radio Lancashire on Friday.

Adrian said, "I am pleased that after almost three years of waiting and ducking on her part, I finally had the chance to debate with the Labour candidate. The debate was a good opportunity for West Lancashire voters to hear from the three main parties at a local level."

"I was able to challenge the Labour candidate on her party's record of failure in West Lancashire. I was amazed by her response regarding families' real concerns that, in the event of an emergency, parents are given hospital treatment in Southport whilst their children are miles apart from them in Ormskirk. She said this debate is "silly" but it is actually happening right here and now thanks to Labour's closure of our Adult A&E department.

"She was also in denial about Labour's jobs tax, even though I have met local businessmen who have told me in no uncertain terms that if the rise in National Insurance came in, they have to either make redundancies or freeze recruitment.

"A Conservative government would axe Labour's jobs tax because we recognise that we need to get the economy moving again and this NI rise would kill the recovery. In addition, we would support Ormskirk Hospital and have infact promised to ringfence the NHS budget."
