Cooperative Bank's announcement a great boost for Skelmersdale
Adrian has welcomed a public announcement from Cooperative Bank that they will be relocating to a new building in Skelmersdale town centre. As council lead on regeneration, Adrian had known of the plans
for some time as the council had been involved in the discussions but had respected the bank's wish to keep the information confidential.
Adrian said: "The Borough Council has been involved in discussions with the bank for many months over their re-location to brand new premises with support from the Northwest Development Agency as part of the Skelmersdale Vision. As the council’s Regeneration portfolio holder I have been fully aware of and supportive of these discussions, but until now the bank have insisted on confidentiality. Their public announcement of these plans is therefore a major boost for the town.
"When news broke of the likely forthcoming planning application for a start to the new Skelmersdale high street , I said then that that application was only part of the work which the council is currently working on to bring regeneration to Skelmersdale town centre. This public announcement from the Cooperative Bank confirms that."
