Adrian hails boost for group recycling furniture to people in need
Adrian Owens, Conservative General Election candidate has welcomed news that the district council has agreed to fund a new social enterprise, which has the backing of Tawd Vale Lions. The new organisation, West Lancashire Re-Source based in Skelmersdale, will build on the work of the Lions in collecting and redistributing household goods to individuals and community groups, helping people in need and reducing material going to landfill. As the work develops, it is planned to offer work opportunities to local unemployed people. Adrian said, “I’ve met the key people involved with this exciting new initiative, and I wish it every success. The Lions have a track record of work in this area, helping people in difficulty equip their new homes with essentials such as beds, sofas, and cookers. The opportunities to also help unemployed people make this a project I’m delighted the district council has been able to support.” Adrian concluded, “The council have worked hard to identify this funding and also to help the group find suitable premises. I look forward to visiting the group again in the near future once operations are fully underway.” Copyright © 2008, Adrian Owens - Revised -- 02/06/08 |
