Adrian calls for county to get a move on over residents' parking scheme

Adrian has called on Lancashire county council to pull their finger out and implement residents’ parking schemes in parts of Ormskirk.

Adrian said that while he realised that these parking schemes were not a panacea, residents had shown strong support for them. The district council had then worked hard in providing all the information required by the county council. Progress was now stymied by “foot dragging” from county council officers.

“I have kept in touch with this matter over a period of months and every attempt by the district council to move the matter forward is frustrated by the county council. It’s frustrating that this matter can’t be completed without the assistance of the county council, otherwise the parking schemes would be up and operating by now.”

Adrian has now asked the chairman of the county council committee, Cllr David O’Toole to get involved in the hope of clearing the logjam at the county end.

STOP PRESS 25/11/06: Following the support of Conservative county councillor David O'Toole, progress is being made and the legal steps to introduce residents' parking should be made very soon.
