train operators say a rail link to skelmersdale is economically viable

Commenting on the release today of the Association of Train Operating Companies report which proposes a new rail link to Skelmersdale, Adrian Owens said:

“This is another very welcome piece of evidence that a rail link into Skelmersdale is economically feasible. The proposed location of the station in this report is less than ideal, but this report is a step in the right direction. A town the size of Skelmersdale needs a rail link and I will work to secure one.

Our recent survey of residents showed that a new rail link for Skelmersdale was the top rail improvement priority for people, including a massive 87% of Skelmersdale residents.”
