labour triples advertising spending
“Labour's tripling of the government advertising budget shows that savings can be made in government expenditure” says Adrian Owens, the Conservative General Election candidate.
Adrian was commenting after the release this week of the annual report of the Central Office of Information. The accounts show that government spending on advertising rose by 43% in the past year to £540 million.
The would be next MP for West Lancashire said “Even allowing for inflation, government spending on advertising has more than tripled since Labour came to power. Some people say that any reduction in government expenditure will hit vital services. Here is an example where hundreds of millions of pounds could be saved, simply by returning advertising spending to the levels it was at in 1997.”
