lancashire's chief for young people visits skelmersdale

The new cabinet member for young people at Lancashire county council was in Skelmersdale yesterday. Mark Perks, who himself has a background in youth work, visited the Birchwood Centre in Birch Green (pictured) and The Engine Rooms in old Skelmersdale.

Adrian Owens, Conservative General Election candidate, who invited Cllr Perks said, "Lancashire county Conservatives are considering delivering more youth services through independent youth organisations, and I know that Mark was very impressed by the work of these two groups who help many youngsters that other organisations simply don't reach."
