Consign Water Tower Plan to Reject Bin
Adrian has this week called on the council’s planning officers to bring the controversial plans to develop the old Water Tower on Tower Hill in Ormskirk to the next planning committee in March and recommend refusal. Adrian, who is a long-standing critic of the plans to convert the water tower into 7 flats, launched his call in response to a letter from English Heritage to the council in which the country’s leading conservation body state that they are unable to support the planning application. English Heritage are particularly concerned that the case has not been proven that 7 flats are the minimum required to safeguard the future of this listed building. Adrian said “This application was submitted more than 2 years ago in December 2004. Since that time this application has met with delay after delay. Residents should not have to put up with further uncertainty. The English Heritage response raises so many questions that the only reasonable course of action is to reject this application and let the applicant go back to the drawing board.” Copyright © 2007, Adrian Owens - Revised -- 27/02/07 |
