ADRIAN HAILS 10% REDUCTION IN COUNCIL'S POWER USE

Adrian Owens, West Lancashire's Conservative General Election candidate and Council Deputy Leader has welcomed news that the Borough council reduced its energy use by more than 10% in the past year.

Adrian said, “When I was in charge of the council's finances, I started the process of aiming to use less electricity and gas in the council's offices. At the time I met some scepticism that significant savings could be made, but these latest reductions will save council taxpayers more than £13,000 a year.

In addition, with many experts predicting energy shortages in the years to come, our wise use of energy now will better prepare us, as well as minimising the environmental effects of energy generated for the council's use.”

The savings show the type of saving that must be made at national government level to bring debt levels down.
