'ILLEGAL' CHILDMINDING ILLUSTRATES MUCH THAT IS WRONG WITH THIS COUNTRY
Adrian Owens, Conservative General Election candidate said today that there would be parents in West Lancashire worried they have unwittingly broken the law. This follows news that OFSTED inspectors descended on two policewomen in Buckinghamshire who cared for each other's children while the other worked shifts. OFSTED said that both policewomen would need to register as childminders for the arrangement to continue.
Adrian said: “Locally, many parents are involved in relatively informal babysitting circles. It would appear that even they would need to register as childminders, so restrictive is the legislation. Balancing work and child care is tough enough without parents having to worry about issues like this.”
Adrian continued: “The whole episode illustrates much that is wrong in this country and why we need a new direction. Parliament churns out more and more legislation, much of it badly drafted. Heavy-handed, unaccountable quangos then enforce this legislation and all the time an expanding state intrudes further and further into the lives of every person in the country.”
