Supporting small businesses crucial to strong economic recovery

Speaking to a group of small businessmen and women at the Let's Evolve Christmas networking lunch, Adrian said, “It's businesses generally, and small businesses in particular, which will lead us out of recession and create the wealth to pay for our schools, hospitals and other services.”

Adrian continued “That's why it will be the Conservatives' top priority to halt Labour's plans for extra taxes on jobs in the form of higher national insurance contributions. In contrast, under a Conservative government any new business will not pay national insurance contributions at all during its first year on the first ten people it takes on. We recognise the critical role small businesses play in creating new jobs and we will support them.”

Adrian also highlighted Conservative plans to cut corporation tax and regulation and make it easier for small companies to bid for public sector contracts during his speech.

Amanda Shaw from Let's Evolve said, “It was great that Adrian could come along and it was good to hear that he recognised the key role that small businesses play in the economy.”
