Strange goings on in budget preparations
Adrian, who is a long standing Borough Councillor and was himself financial portfolio holder for six years has written to the Borough
Council Leader, Councillor Westley expressing serious concern that the budget estimates for 2015/16 for the general revenue account have still not been
published when the council meeting to set the budget is only two weeks away. Adrian said, “This will be my 16th budget as a councillor and in that time the budget estimates have always been published during
January in time for the Executive Overview and Scrutiny committee or its predecessor committees and for public scrutiny. Their absence this year is unprecedented
and I’ve written to the Council Leader for an explanation.” Update: 6 hours later the budget estimates arrived. I am still awaiting an explanation for the delay. I have formed my own opinion.
